It has 40 more wineries than in 2018 and 50 more wine references. In total, it features 205 wines from 95 different wineries.
Hundreds of people entered the Wine Tunnel during the Mediterranean’s most important food fair to sample some of the wines produced by Valencian Region wineries and by their counterparts from Castile and Leon, the guest region at Gastrónoma 2019.
The 2019 Gastrónoma fair, which closed on 12th November, was a resounding success. One of the most popular initiatives was the Wine Tunnel, a space located in the ‘Wine Experience’ area, which brought together hundreds of wines and wineries and showcased the variety and quality of the region’s production in this major trade forum.
With the backing of ASVASU (Valencian Sommeliers’ Association) and FASCV (Valencian Region Federation of Sommeliers’ Associations), the Wine Tunnel continued its excellent growth rate of recent years and brought together a total of 205 wines, 50 more than last year, as well as 95 different wineries, 40 more than in 2018. It included the Designations of Origin from Alicante, which participated with 23 wines, Valencia, which contributed 84 wines, Utiel-Requena, with 48, as well as the PGI from Castellon, which brought 12 different offerings. In addition, for the first time, Castile and Leon, this year’s guest region, participated with 38 wines.
Hundreds of people visited this space, including professionals, sommeliers, gourmet visitors and national and international journalists who had the chance to discover and taste the best wines from the Valencian Region and from Castile and Leon, which showcased a range of areas such as Toro, the Bierzo and the Ribera del Duero.
This space makes Gastrónoma an even better option for trade visitors to attend this major culinary event and proves, once again, that it is an ideal showcase for wine and food tourism in the Valencian Region and other guest regions.
«It is a space where we can enjoy wines from the Valencian Region, sample wines from other areas and also taste and learn more about the world of wine, in generak» said Carlos Mataix, Chairman of Gastrónoma.
Gastrónoma is backed by the Valencian Regional Government and the Provincial Councils of Alicante, Castellon and Valencia. It is organised by Feria Valencia, with the support of the leading industry associations and the cooperation of the Valencian Region’s top chefs.
