Valencia, 10th November 2019 – Gastrónoma opened its doors today and is already proving to be a huge success. Thousands of trade professionals and gourmet lovers visited the Mediterranean food fair today, which will continue until Tuesday 12th November and which got off the ground with a very special presentation by Ricard Camarena, the recent winner of the National Gastronomy Award.

In addition to Ricard Camarena’s presentation with Mexico’s Edgar Núñez, the Central Kitchen – The Exquisite Space has also seen other top national and international chefs take to the stage, such as Luis Valls, chef at El Poblet; Miriam de Andrés, the first woman to be awarded two Repsol suns in Valencia; Sacha Hormaechea, alma mater of the Sacha restaurant; David García, in charge of the Corral de la Morería; Nazario Cano, chef at the El Rodat restaurant; Rubén Escudero, Gastón Acurio’s right-hand man at the Parisian Manko restaurant, and Marta Campillo, head waiter of the DiverxXO restaurant.

In an emotional ceremony, the ‘One of Us’ Gastrónoma Award was presented this year to Loles Salvador, for her career and her achievements with the La Sucursal Group. The chef dedicated the award to her children and recalled other top female chefs who, like her, paved the way for women to move into the world of haute cuisine.

In turn, the #pandeverdad area played host to the ‘La Pepa’ group, which presented a range of signature breads and made loaves from very different origins with the help of renowned bakers from all over the region. Desserts were served on the new Be Sweet stage, with cooking shows led by Marc Rodellas, Ruth Gou and Manu Jara. It is worth mentioning that the “Valencia D.O. Rice Room” opened its doors to the public with Jorge Moreno, from Voraz, who let his imagination run wild with rice. Carlos Julián, for his part, spoke about rice dishes in the three different parts of a menu, a subject on which he is an expert. However, they were not the only chefs taking part: Luis Arrufat, Nacho Romero, Kiko Lázaro, Germán Carrizo, Carito Lourenço, Juan Carlos Galbis, Alberto Alonso and Mar Soler all prepared their own rice dishes.
